Houston Dynamo FC Sign Winger Tyler Pasher from Indy Eleven

January 14, 2021 - Major League Soccer (MLS) - Houston Dynamo News Release

HOUSTON - Houston Dynamo FC acquired winger Tyler Pasher from Indy Eleven, which competes in the USL Championship, the Club announced today.

The winger joins Houston after back-to-back seasons with 10 or more goals with Indy Eleven. The 26-year-old scored 23 goals and finished with six assists in 50 appearances for the club, the sixth-most in the USL Championship since 2019.

"Tyler is a player we've been tracking closely over the last year and we are pleased the timing was right to add him to our roster," said Club Senior Vice President and General Manager Matt Jordan. "His ability to take players on and put up numbers, along with being naturally left-footed, make him a good fit for our group and system."

Pasher scored six goals in six games to open the 2020 USL Championship season to earn Player of the Month honors in July. The forward finished with 10 goals and two assists in 15 appearances this season with Indy. The Elmira, Ontario native was named to the 2020 USL Championship All-League team following an abbreviated 16-game season.

"Tyler is a relentless worker on both sides of the ball and he fits really well into our game model," Dynamo head coach Tab Ramos said. "We feel that we added a player who is going to be successful and going to contribute in the attacking third."

The winger was a key member of the 2019 squad that reached the Eastern Conference final. Pasher scored five game-winning goals in 2019 with three goals coming after the 80th minute of the game.

The forward spent seven years with Newcastle United as an academy player and first team reserve. Pasher returned to Canada in 2010 and spent two seasons with Toronto FC's academy. The forward was awarded the captain's armband as an 18-year-old in a Toronto FC first team friendly with Liverpool Football Club on July 21, 2012 that finished in a 1-1 tie.

The forward signed for Finnish side PS Kemi in 2013 and scored 11 goals in 24 appearances before returning to America in 2014 to join Lansing (Michigan) United to compete in the National Premier Soccer League. The Canadian forward signed with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds in 2015 and Swope Park Rangers in 2016.

Pasher finished with five goals for Swope Park Rangers and helped the side advance to the USL Cup Final in 2016 and 2017. He made two appearances with Swope's parent MLS club, Sporting Kansas City, and was a member of Sporting's Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup-winning side in 2017. Pasher made his Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League debut against the Vancouver Whitecaps on Sept. 13, 2016 and made his MLS debut the following season in his native Canada against the Whitecaps. The forward signed with Indy Eleven following the 2017 season.

The winger joined the U-17 Canadian Men's National Team for two friendlies against Mexico in 2011. Pasher also earned two appearances for the U-20 Men's National Team in the 2013 Francophone Games in France. The winger was also named to the senior national team in 2014 and 2015.

With the addition of Pasher, Houston Dynamo FC now has 24 players under contract for the 2021 Major League Soccer season.
