Midland, TX - A late lead did not stand up as the Midland RockHounds rallied past the Arkansas Travelers for a 9-8 win on Thursday night. The RockHounds scored six times in the bottom of the eighth inning, erasing a four run deficit in the process. Shawn Semple delivered an outstanding start for the Travs needing only 75 pitches to get through seven innings. Robert Perez, Jr. had four hits and Spencer Packard notched his fifth consecutive multi-hit game.
Moments That Mattered
* Eight straight RockHounds reached base with two outs in the eighth. The tying run scored on a throwing error after the batter was initially called out at first base only to have the umpires congregate and overturn the call. Drew Swift then connected for the go-ahead hit for Midland.
* Arkansas scored quickly in the ninth and had the tying and go-ahead runs on base with no outs but the next three hitters went down in order.
