Hounds fall to Bugs on Saturday night

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO - The Youngstown SteelHounds gave up three goals in the second period as they fall to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs by a score of 4-2 on Saturday night.

The Hounds struck first as Joel Irving scored a shorthanded goal with 34 seconds left in the first period to put Youngstown up 1-0 after one period. Irving had scored Youngstown's last three goals dating back to Friday night.

In the second period Bossier-Shreveport scored three unanswered goals in a span of 2:46 to go up 3-1 after two periods. The goals were scored by Kevin Cooper, Tyrel Lucas on the power play and Chris Brassard. The Hounds have been outscored 16-14 in the second period this season.

Youngstown tried to come back in the third period as Kevin Jarman scored a power play goal with 8:45 to play to make it 3-2. That was it for the SteelHounds as Brett Smith scored an unassisted goal at 12:33 to put the game out of reach.

The Hounds held the Mudbugs to just 19 shots on goal for the game. That is the least amount of shots given up by the Hounds this season. Youngstown drops to 13-2-1 (27 points) but remains in first place in the Northeast Division. Bossier-Shreveport improves to 6-6-2 (14 points). These two teams will meet up again on Friday night in Louisiana for an 8:05pm start on ESPN Radio 1240 and SteelHounds.com.
