Hot Rods Drop Opener to TinCaps, 5-1

FORT WAYNE, IN - The Bowling Green Hot Rods dropped the series opener and road trip opener by a 5-1 score, falling to the Fort Wayne TinCaps at Parkview Field. C Ronaldo Hernandez homered in the loss.

Hernandez led off the second inning with the home run, a line drive down the left field line, and it was 1-0 Bowling Green. It was his team leading 11th home run of the season.

Fort Wayne did not wait long to respond. They scored three in the bottom of the inning, highlighted by a two run triple from RF Jack Suwinski, and the hosts led 3-1.

The TinCaps added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth on a Hot Rods throwing error, and the score stood up as a 5-1 final.

LHP Resly Linares (1-2, 4.33) took the loss for the Hot Rods. He threw four innings, allowing three hits and three runs (none earned), walking four and striking out five.

The Hot Rods will look to even the series tomorrow night, beginning at 7:05pm Eastern Time. RHP Tobias Myers (8-3, 4.63) will get the start for Bowling Green, while Fort Wayne will counter with LHP Aaron Leasher (3-3, 2.77).
