Davenport, IA - Quad Cities River Bandits pitcher Patrick Sandoval has been named the Midwest League Pitcher of the Week for the week of June 18-24. This is the second time during the 2018 season that Sandoval has received the honor. He was also named pitcher of the week during the first week of May.

The left-handed pitcher from Mission Viejo, California made one appearance this week. In a start against the Beloit Snappers on Saturday, the 21-year old tossed 7.0 scoreless innings. He scattered three hits, struck out five and walked one. Sandoval is tied for second in the league in WHIP, tied for third in wins, and fourth in ERA.

Sandoval was selected by the Astros in the 11th round of the 2015 MLB Draft out of Mission Viejo High School in California. He is currently playing in his fourth season in the organization and was part of the River Bandits squad that captured the 2017 Midwest League Championship.

Other weekly award winners from the Bandits this season include Jonathan Arauz and Cristian Javier.

The River Bandits continue their seven-game homestand on Monday night at 6:35 p.m. against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. It is a Pepsi Stars and Stripes Monday with $3 premium brews, pop, and brats as well as $1 bleacher tickets for military personnel, veterans and their families. In addition The Family Credit Union is providing $1 GA tickets and Ferris Wheel rides.
