Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
Davenport, IA - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers snapped their ten-game losing streak by shutting out the Quad Cities River Bandits 9-0 on Monday night at Modern Woodmen Park. Bowden Francis of Wisconsin tossed 7.0 scoreless innings and struck out a career-high ten batters as the River Bandits were held scoreless for the fifth time this season.
Wisconsin jumped out of the gates quickly, getting to Bandits starter Parker Mushinski in the first inning. Darren Seferina opened the game with a single and raced around to score on an ensuing double by Tristen Lutz. The Timber Rattlers put runners on second and third with two outs, but Mushinski struck out the next two hitters to avoid further damage.
The Timber Rattlers added to the lead in the second and third innings against the southpaw. Wisconsin loaded the bases in the second on a walk and two hits. Lutz drove in his second run of the game with a sacrifice fly to center field to make it 2-0. In the third, Payton Henry led off with an opposite field solo home run to extend the advantage. The long ball was his sixth of the season. Later in the frame, Gilbert Lara lined an RBI single to left to score Rob Henry and grow the margin to 4-0.
Mushinski and reliever Dariel Aquino combined to walk the bases loaded in the Wisconsin fourth. Jay Feliciano drove in two of those runners with a base hit into left field. The ball rolled under the glove of outfielder Jonathan Lacroix for an error that also allowed Henry to score from first base as the lead ballooned to 7-0.
The Timber Rattlers loaded the bases once again in the eighth inning against Peter Solomon with two hits and a walk. With two outs, Jay Feliciano hit a high fly ball into right field that was lost in the lights by Chandler Taylor and fell for a two-run double. That pushed the lead to 9-0 which was the final margin.
Mushinski worked 3.1 innings, giving up five runs, four earned, on six hits and three walks. He was followed out of the pen by Dariel Aquino who worked 0.2 innings while allowing two walks, a hit, and two runs, one of them of the earned variety. Solomon threw 4.0 innings and gave up two runs on six hits with a pair of walks and six strikeouts. Tanner Duncan worked a scoreless ninth inning, retiring the side in order.
Quad Cities came up with seven hits in the game. Logan Mattix and David Hensley each were responsible for a pair.
