Hot-Handed Nets Silence Wolves at Home

LONG ISLAND - The Long Island Nets (11-3), the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, defeated the Iowa Wolves (3-8) 131-112 on Wednesday evening at Nassau Coliseum.

Eight Nets scored in double figures, including forward Jordan Bowden (season-high 31 points), centers RaiQuan Gray and Kavion Pippen (20 points each), forward Kaiser Gates (14 points), guard Chris Chiozza (13 points), forward Alondes Williams (12 points), forward Noah Kirkwood (11 points) and forward Kameron Hankerson (10 points). Long Island shot a season-high 55.8 percent (53-of-95) from the field and a season-high 52.2 percent (24-of-46) from 3-point range to go along with a season-high 36 assists in the win.

Iowa got off to a quick start in the first quarter, leading by as many as 10. Long Island battled back and tied the match 32-32 just before closing the first quarter. The Nets outscored the Wolves 28-26 in the second quarter and managed to take the lead overall despite both teams shooting an even 50.0 percent from the field. Long Island went into halftime ahead by two, 60-58.

The Nets widened the gap against the Wolves and led by as many as 21 points in the third quarter. Long Island outscored Iowa 34-20 and outrebounded the Wolves 11-8 while shooting 59.1 percent from the field and 63.6 percent from distance to head into the final quarter ahead by 16, 94-78. The Nets continued their hot streak during the final quarter, shooting 65.2 percent from the field and 58.3 percent from long range to outscore the Wolves 34-37 in the quarter. The Nets went on to defeat the Wolves by 19, 131-112.

Iowa guard D.J. Carton recorded 19 points, three rebounds and six assists in 31 minutes. Wolves forward Javonte Cooke tallied 17 points, three rebounds and one assist in 22 minutes.

Long Island will face Capital City on the road on Sunday, Jan. 29, at 7 p.m. ET, while Iowa will return home to face Oklahoma City on Friday, Jan. 27, at 7 p.m. CT.
