905 Open Homestand with Victory over the Squadron

Raptors 905 (6-4), the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors, defeated the Birmingham Squadron (2-12) in the first of two matchups, 110-89 Wednesday afternoon. Sterling Brown led the 905 in his first game in Mississauga, contributing 20 points, four rebounds, and six assists (7-10 FG, 6-7 3FG). Birmingham was led by Dereon Seabron who added 15 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and two steals in the loss.

The Squadron took control of the ball game in the opening minutes of the quarter before the 905 were able to go on an 8-0 run. After playing a near evenly match opening frame, Birmingham took a one-point advantage as the quarter came to a close. The two teams continued to trade baskets throughout the second quarter, but the visitors were able to hold and extended their lead to three going into the half.

The 905 opened the second half forcing the Squadron into three turnovers and going on an 8-0 run in the first two minutes of the quarter. Birmingham attempted to keep the game close, but the 905 were able to outscore the visitors by 10 in the quarter. Up seven as they entered the final frame, the 905 continued to build off their momentum, eventually outscoring the Squadron 33-19, and closing out the win at home.

Reggie Perry (13 points, nine rebounds, nine assists, two steals) and Christian Koloko (12 points, 14 rebounds, four blocks) paced the 905 in the victory. The Squadron received complementary scoring from Kelan Martin who added 20 points, four assists, and a steal.

The two teams meet again to complete the second game of back-to-back matchups Thursday, tip-off scheduled for 7:30 pm.
