
Hot Bats Pace Win over Idaho Falls

On Tuesday night at Suplizio Field, the Grand Junction Rockies scored in the first five innings against the Idaho Falls Chukars, and the bullpen combined for five scoreless innings in a 10-2 victory in the third game of a four game series.
Michael Zimmerman surrendered two run in four innings, but the bullpen quartet of Lorenz Ozuna, Dakota Behr, Kelvin Franco, and Daniel Koger combined for five scoreless innings, allowing just one hit with nine strikeouts.
Brendan Rodgers put the Rockies on top when he homered to left field with one out in the first inning, and Bobby Stahel scored an unearned run in the second, but the Chukars rallied with three straight singles with two out in the third to get on the board, but the Rockies responded in a big way in the bottom of the inning.
Rodgers started the frame by striking out, but the next six Rockies reached base, and they scored four runs. Jonathan Piron doubled home a pair, and singled home two more to make it 6-1. Josh Banuelos started the fourth inning with a homerun, but them left two on base in the inning, and the Rockies added to the lead in their half with a 3-spot.
Rodgers and Wes Rogers scored on a wild pitch, and Piron doubled home Ferguson to make it 9-2, and in the fifth, Rodgers doubled home Mylz Jones to give the Rockies an eight run lead.
Rodgers, Piron and Collin Ferguson had two hits apiece. Piron drove home three, Ferguson scored twice, while Rodgers scored two, and brought in two. Rogers walked three times to go along with a single.
Grand Junction finished 6-for-15 with runners in scoring position as they end a 5-game losing skid, and improve to 6-17 in the second half, 26-35 overall.
