Hornsby Shines Bright in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY, UT - The Salt Lake City Stars (24-21) took a wire-to-wire win 128-100 over the Texas Legends (15-29) despite a near career-night for Keith Hornsby.

Hornsby shot lights-out, leading the game with 5 made threes for 25 total and knocking down 8-of-12 on the night while going perfect from the free throw line. The Legends hit 42.3% as a team and 41.9% outside but Salt Lake City finished at 56% overall and 47% outside while beating the visitors on the boards 46-34.

Salt Lake City grabbed the first lead of the game and held on through the final buzzer. The two teams stayed close through the first with Hornsby powering out 12 to keep the Legends within two. The Stars' edge grew to double-digits before the half with their largest lead (+33) coming in the fourth.

Hornsby's 25 tied the game-high as he knocked down 5-of-7 outside and grabbed 3 steals. Daryl Macon added 21 points, 6 rebounds, and a team-high 8 assists. Vander Blue grabbed 17 points off the bench, and Xavier Johnson rounded out Texas' double-digit scorers with 12 points, 5 rebounds.

Salt Lake City dished out 39 assists, the most by a Legends opponent this season, led by Deonte Burton with 11. Isaac Haas had 25 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists, and Tyler Cavanaugh added 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. Tanner McGrew tallied the game's only double-double, finishing with 11 points, 13 rebounds off the bench for the Stars.
