Corpus Christi Hooks News Release

CORPUS CHRISTI - The Midland RockHounds sent nine men to the plate and scored five times in the fifth inning to pull away towards an 11-1 victory over the Corpus Christi Hooks on Thursday night at Whataburger Field.

Right-hander Yoanys Quiala allowed a tally in the first inning and another in the fourth as the RockHounds jumped ahead to a 2-0 advantage.

In the fifth, Quiala loaded the bases and was replaced by Brendan Feldmann. Feldmann struck out Mikey White for the second out of the frame but gave up a bases-clearing double to Seth Brown as Midland extended the lead to 5-0. Back-to-back doubles followed from Santiago Chavez and Brett Siddall made it 7-0.

Erasmo Pinales and Kevin Hill combined for three frames out the Corpus Christi bullpen, allowing another four total runs.

Bright spots for the Hooks offense included a multi-hit night for Stephen Wrenn, including a run scored in the ninth inning on an RBI double from Taylor Jones to put Corpus Christi on the board. Jamie Ritchie also chipped in with a pair of hits.

The Hooks begin a four-game set against Frisco tomorrow night at Whataburger Field. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. Fans can enjoy Friday Fireworks presented by Bud Light following the ballgame.
