Corpus Christi Hooks News Release
MIDLAND, Texas - Jon Zeringue's RBI single to left field capped a three-run eighth inning for Midland as the RockHounds came from behind to sweep the Hooks 4-3 in their four-game set at Citibank Ballpark.
The Hooks (14-29 in the second half) have lost eight-straight to the RockHounds, who earned their 11th consecutive victory.
Trailing 3-1 in the ninth, Javier Herrera hit a one-out double to left off of reliever Chris Blazek (4-3). Justin Sellers followed with a walk and Aaron Cunningham singled to load the bases. Sammy Gervacio then entered the game for Corpus Christi and surrendered a sacrifice fly from Tommy Everidge to pull the âHounds within one. Sean Doolittle immediately tied the score with a single to left, setting the stage for Zeringue's game-winner.
The loss spoils a fine performance from starter Casey Hudspeth who carried a no-hitter into the fifth. The right-hander, making his fifth start for the Hooks, allowed one hit and an unearned run over six innings of work. He walked three and struck out five.
Brian Bogusevic logged two RBI's for Corpus Christi, including a run-scoring single in the first. Drew Sutton added an RBI double in the sixth.
The Hooks are off Tuesday before opening a six-game homestand with the Arkansas Travelers. Lefty Polin Trinidad (4-5) is slated to face Arkansas' Bobby Mosebach (9-9).
