Frisco RoughRiders News Release
The RoughRiders completed the four game sweep with a 8-6 victory over the Missions Monday night
Frisco used the longball en route to the 8-6 victory Monday night over San Antonio to complete the four game sweep. Thomas Diamond went just four innings, but allowed just three runs on eight hits. Craig Gentry and Julio Borbon, who are both known more for their speed, each hit a homer.
San Antonio got on the board first with two runs in the second, but Frisco quickly answered with a solo homer from Borbon in the third and a three run home run from Gentry in the fourth. Thomas Berkery would also add an RBI double in the fourth frame to put Frisco up 5-2. The âRiders added three more in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Steve Murphy and a two run single by Tim Gradoville to make the score 8-2.
San Antonio would stage a comeback with a run in the fifth and three more in the eighth to cut the deficit to two at 8-6, but the Frisco bullpen closed the door and preserved the win.
JB Diaz (1-1) earned the win with three scoreless innings in relief of Diamond. Stephen Faris (7-5) took the loss, allowing seven runs in 4.1 innings. Eight of the nine batters in the Frisco line-up had at least one hit and five of the eight had two hits. Gentry recorded three RBI while Gradoville had a pair.
Frisco has an off-day on Tuesday and will then travel to Tulsa to face the Drillers. RHP Trey Hodges (7-7, 5.71) will get the start for Frisco.
