Rochester Honkers News Release

(Rochester, MN) - The Rochester Honkers continue their hot streak on Wednesday night with a 9-2 road win over the St. Cloud Rox.

The Honkers have now won four in a row and seven of their last eight to move up a spot in the North Division standings. The team now sits in fifth place and eight games back of the division leading Mankato MoonDogs.

Every player in the Honkers starting lineup picked up a hit in the victory. Left fielder Justin Parr (Illinois) finished 2 for 5 with two runs and two RBIs.

Rochester starter Carl O'Neal (St. Mary's TX) surrendered just two runs, both unearned, over 5.2 innings of work. O'Neal cruised through the first five frames without allowing a run but ran into trouble in the sixth. Two hits and two errors in the inning aided St. Cloud in tying the game 2-2.

The Honkers answered with five runs in the seventh inning and two more in the eighth to make it 9-2, which is where the score would stay.

Ty McDevitt (Minnesota) came into the game to relieve O'Neal with two outs in the sixth and lasted the final 3.1 innings to pick up his first win in a Honkers uniform. McDevitt scattered just three hits and struck out two. O'Neal was given a no-decision.

The Honkers (13-15) and Rox (6-20) will continue their series tomorrow, June 28th, in game two of the three-game set. First pitch is at 7:05 PM in St. Cloud. Starting for the Honkers is lefthander DJ Snelten (Minnesota) who is 0-2 in four starts with a 2.04 ERA. On the hill for the Rox will be Zach Hirsch (Nebraska). Hirsch is 1-1 this summer with a 3.86 ERA.

The Honkers will not be home again until Saturday, July 7th at 7:05 PM when they battle the Willmar Stingers.
