Rochester Honkers News Release

(Rochester, MN)- The Rochester Honkers travelled to Mankato today to take on the Mankato MoonDogs in an early afternoon game, part of a three game series with alternating home field between the two. The Honkers would come up just short in the game, losing 4-3, Tuesday afternoon in Mankato. With the loss the Honkers now fall to 9-8 on the season.

The Honkers would score all three of their runs in the third inning after a few timely singles, but the MoonDogs would answer shortly. Mankato would score two runs in the bottom of the third and then add two more in the bottom of the fourth and cruise to a victory from there.

The Honkers had their lone All-Star Nick Dolsky (So, Nebraska) on the mound, making his first start since the early parts of the season. Dolsky would have a short start however, getting pulled after 4.1 innings. He would allow four runs on three hits and strike out three batters. Jordan Jakubov (RsJr, Kansas) would be the lone reliever on the day for the Honkers, closing the door allowing just one hit in 3.2 innings of relief and no runs.

The top of the Honkers order was affective at the plate today with both Tony Kemp (Fr, Vanderbilt) and Anthony Hutting (So, Cal State Fullerton) going 2-for-4 in the game. Kemp and Hutting would each score one run in the game, and Hutting would add a RBI.

The Honkers and MoonDogs will have over 24 hours until their next game, when they travel back to Rochester for a 7:05 pm game tomorrow night at Mayo Field. The Honkers will have Kevin Johnson (So, Illinois) on the mound, making his second to final start of the season. The Honkers will then travel to Willmar and St. Cloud for two games in each before coming home for a six-game home stand.
