Bruno's Single Lifts Lunkers to Victory

(Brainerd Lakes Area) - With the game tied at 6 in the Bottom of the 10th, the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers Vince Bruno delivered a single into center field to bring home Wade Wass, as the Lunkers walked-off with a 7-6 victory over the Willmar Stingers Tuesday night at Mills Field.

Until then it was a back and forth game, with each team answering the other when they scored.

Bruno had two RBIs for the Lunkers. Tommy Reyes had a great night for Brainerd Lakes Area, going 3 for 4, including a two-run home run to left field in the fourth.

Aaron Griffin got the start for the Lunkers in his final appearance in the Lunker uniform this summer. He went five innings, giving up four runs on six hits, taking a no decision.

For the Stingers, Scott Lieser got the start and also pitched five innings, giving up four runs and taking a no decision.

Tyler Sparger, who pitched a perfect 9th and 10th for the Lunkers, picks up his fifth win of the season. The loss goes to Kurt Spomer, who falls to (1-3).

The Lunkers and Stingers conclude a three-game series at Mills Field Wednesday. First pitch is set for 7:05.
