December 30, 2019 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
FC Dallas News Release
Frisco, Texas - FC Dallas Homegrowns Reggie Cannon, Jesús Ferreira and Paxton Pomykal have been called in by head coach Gregg Berhalter to represent the U.S. Men's National Team in the annual January Camp running from Jan. 5 through Feb. 2.
The first part of the camp will take place at the Aspire Academy in Doha, Qatar from Jan. 5 through Jan. 25 before returning to Los Angeles, California for the final week. The camp will end with an international friendly match against Costa Rica on Feb. 1 (2:55 p.m. CT; ESPNews, UniMás and TUDN) at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
Cannon, 21, has one assist in 10 caps for the Stars and Stripes after making his international debut in a friendly against Peru on Oct. 16, 2018. He scored one goal and recorded one assist in 28 appearances for FC Dallas this season. Cannon also scored his first career playoff goal in the 39th minute of the Audi 2019 playoff match against Seattle Sounders FC on Oct. 19 at CenturyLink Field, starting Dallas' comeback in regulation before falling to the 2019 MLS Cup winners, 4-3, in extra time.
Ferreira, 19, earns his first senior team call-up to the Men's National Team since becoming a U.S. citizen on Dec. 16. FC Dallas signed Ferreira to a new, four-year contract, using Targeted Allocation Money (TAM), earlier this month after his standout performance with FC Dallas during the 2019 season where he scored eight goals and recording six assists in 33 MLS appearances. The Colombian-born striker earned three call-ups to the United States National Team program, joining the U-20s and U-23s this season, but did not make any appearances.
Pomykal, 20, earns his second call up to the Men's National Team following his senior team debut in the 85th minute of the international friendly match against Uruguay on Sept. 10. Following a productive 2019 season with FC Dallas, Pomykal was signed to a new, four-year contract, using TAM, with an option for the 2024 season in October. The Academy product scored his first professional brace and recorded five assists in 25 MLS appearances this season.
