
Columbus Crew SC's Gyasi Zardes Receives An International Call-Up

COLUMBUS - Columbus Crew SC today announced that forward Gyasi Zardes has received an international call-up from the United States Men's National Team. The U.S. is set to hold the first part of its annual January Camp at Aspire Academy in Doha, Qatar from January 5-25 before training in Los Angeles, California from January 26-31. Following the conclusion of their training camp, the Stars and Stripes are set to play in an international friendly against Concacaf rival Costa Rica on Feb. 1 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif. Coverage of the USA's first match of 2020 begins at 12:55 p.m. PT on ESPNews, UniMas and TUDN.
Gyasi Zardes has earned 55 caps with the U.S. Men's National Team, scoring 12 goals and providing nine assists. Zardes most recently featured for the U.S. in a Concacaf League of Nations group stage match against Canada (December 15, 2019), registering a brace. This year, Zardes scored a team-leading six goals for the Stars and Stripes and was one of six nominees for the 2019 U.S. Soccer Male Player of the Year Award. The forward also scored 13 goals and provided two assists in 28 regular-season appearances (all starts) to win the 2019 Crew SC Golden Boot as the team's top scorer.
Crew SC's current roster features seven players that have received a senior National Team call-up while with the Club: Harrison Afful, Luis Diaz, Waylon Francis, Jonathan Mensah, Eloy Room, Wil Trapp and Gyasi Zardes.
The Crew's 2020 MLS preseason training begins on January 18 in Chula Vista, California, following entrance physicals and testing in Central Ohio. From there, the Club departs to Cancun, Mexico on January 29 before traveling to Tucson, Arizona on February 10 to participate in the 2020 Visit Tucson Sun Cup. The Black & Gold kick-off the 2020 Major League Soccer regular season at MAPFRE Stadium against New York City FC on Sunday, March 1 at 12:30 p.m. ET.
