Rockland County, NY - Zach Kirtley and Tucker Nathans each hit three-run home runs to back up a strong start from Andy Hammond as the New York Boulders defeated the New Jersey Jackals 9-2 on Sunday at Palisades Credit Union Park.

The victory gave New York a split of the four-game weekend series.

Kirtley's blast, his 12th of the season, stretched the Boulders' lead to 5-0 in the fourth inning and came with two outs. Phil Caulfield had singled to lead off the frame before Gian Martellini walked. Milton Smith, Jr.'s sacrifice bunt moved both runners up a base for Jack Sundberg, whose hard groundball to short resulted in Caulfield being thrown out at the plate.

Kirtley then deposited New Jersey starter Chris Tessitore's next pitch into the left field bleachers.

Three innings later, in the seventh, Nathans hit his eighth of the season, to make it 8-0. Sundberg had led off the stanza with a single, which was followed by a double by Kirtley, The damage was done against New Jersey reliever Alex Watkins, who had come on for Tessitore to start the sixth.

Later in the seventh, Kevonte Mitchell would score New York's ninth run of the game, crossing the plate on a wild pitch by Watkins.

Meanwhile, Hammond took a two-hit shutout into the eighth inning before tiring and surrendering three hits, including a two-run double by Todd Isaacs.

Hammond finished with eight innings pitched and two runs allowed on five hits. He did not walk a batter and struck out one, Hammond had consecutive out streaks of 11 and nine batters in his win, which improved him to 4-1 on the season.

Tessitore took the loss and fell to 1-4 on the year.

New York had scored once in the second inning on an RBI double by Smith, Jr,, then made it 2-0 in the third on a sacrifice fly by Mitchell.
