Club de Foot Montreal News Release
MONTREAL - CF Montréal will host Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the Club's home opener at Stade Saputo this Saturday at 3pm EDT (TVA Sports, TSN, CTV, 91.9 Sports, TSN 690).
In only its second home match in seven games this season and undefeated since March 12, Montreal will be looking to make it three straight wins after overcoming deficits on the road against FC Cincinnati (4-3) and the New York Red Bulls (2-1).
Through its first six games in 2022, Montreal leads the Eastern Conference in goals scored with 11. This sets a new record for the Club since entering MLS.
Whitecaps FC is visiting Stade Saputo for the first time since a 2-0 loss suffered on August 25, 2020. The visitors have not won a game at the stadium since a 2-1 victory on April 29, 2017.
While the head-to-head lifetime record between the two clubs remains tight (five wins for Montreal, six wins for Vancouver) it is the western Canadian club that holds the edge of late with consecutive 2-0 (May 8, 2021 in Utah) and 3-1 (September 16, 2020 at BC Place) wins.
Ahead of this all-Canadian clash, CF Montréal will be recognizing players from both clubs who contributed to Canada's historic qualification campaign for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
