West Michigan Whitecaps News Release
LANSING - Mike Hollimon became the first Whitecap to hit two home runs in a single game this season and blasted West Michigan past Lansing, 10-8. The Whitecaps have won five games in a row.
Hollimon launched two run homers in back-to-back innings. His first came in the sixth and pulled the Caps within two at 6-4. In the seventh, another two-run shot put West Michigan in front for good, 8-6.
The Whitecaps took a 2-0 lead in the first inning thanks to four straight hits to begin the game off Kristian Bell. Cameron Maybin and Mike Hernandez each had RBI singles in the first.
Bell went on to retire the next seven consecutive West Michigan batters and did not allow another hit until the fourth inning.
West Michigan scored four runs to tie in the sixth. Will Rhymes and Maybin delivered RBI singles following the Hollimon homer earlier in the inning.
In the seventh, the Caps grabbed a 10-6 lead on four more runs. Rhymes hit a two-run homer to cap the rally.
