Manchester Monarchs News Release
MANCHESTER, NH â Manchester Monarchs rookie right wing Greg Hogeboom is expected to miss 10-12 weeks of action after undergoing successful wrist surgery, Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced on Thursday. Hogeboom, 23, was injured in the Monarchs game against the Hartford Wolf Pack on Sunday, December 5 at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Dr. Robert Heaps of The Orthopedic Center repaired carpal ligament damage in Hogeboom's wrist on Monday, December 13. Dr. Heaps performed the surgery at the Bedford Ambulatory Surgical Center.
Hogeboom, a 6-foot, 190-pound native of Etobicoke, Ontario, and a fifth-round (152nd overall) selection of the Kings in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, has one goal (1-0-1) and 10 penalty minutes in 12 games with the Monarchs this season.
Hogeboom earlier this season missed eight games over two weeks (November 14 through November 28) with a separated shoulder.
Monarchs Injury Update
McDonough on Thursday also announced that defenseman Tim Gleason is day-to-day with an upper body injury.
Gleason, 21, missed the Monarchs game against the Norfolk Admirals on Wednesday, December 15 because of the injury. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound native of Southfield, Michigan, and former first-round (23rd overall) selection of the Ottawa Senators in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, has seven points (3-4=7) and 47 penalty minutes in 21 games with the Monarchs this season.
Along with Hogeboom and Gleason, the Monarchs injury report also includes right wing Brad Smyth (flu-like symptoms), left wing Ryan Flinn (Achilles tendon surgery) and right wing Scott Barney (abdominal surgery).
Holland Return Delayed
The Monarchs will be without the services newly signed veteran defenseman Jason Holland when they travel to the Wachovia Spectrum to meet the Philadelphia Phantoms on Friday, December 17 (7:05 p.m.).
Holland, 28, who appeared in 13 games (3-4=7, six penalty minutes) with HC Alleghe of the Italian Hockey League before agreeing to terms with the Monarchs on Sunday, December 12, was originally supposed to join the Monarchs in time for Friday's game, but his return from Italy was delayed by customs.
Holland, a 6-foot-3, 219-pound native of Morinville, Alberta, originally selected by the New York Islanders in the second-round (38th overall) in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft, is expected to join the Monarchs in time for their contest against the Hershey Bears on Saturday, December 18 at GIANT Center (7:00 p.m.).
