Hodge To Return For 08-09
March 24, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Tulsa Oilers News Release
While the home will be new for the Tulsa Oilers in 2008-09, the coach won't be.
Team president Jeff Lund announced Monday that Dan Hodge will return as the Oilers' head coach for their first season in the new Bank of Oklahoma Center in downtown Tulsa.
"Dan took over the team in a tough situation and really did a super job this season in keeping everything together, and really providing some heart into the finish of the season," Lund said. "In looking at the whole picture, it was clear that Dan is the right guy to coach us heading into next season and the BOK Center."
Hodge, 36, assumed the coaching duties the first week of December, upon the resignation of Butch Kaebel. The Oilers were 5-10-1 at the time. The Oilers defeated Austin in Hodge's first game 6-4 on December 7th, which at that time was the most goals they had scored in a game for the season.
The Oilers went on to a record of 20-25-3 under Hodge. They also recorded their longest winning streak of the season (four games), and scored 10 goals in a game (Jan. 25 at Mississippi) for the first double digit output in a game since 1997.
"I want to thank Jeff for the confidence he's shown in me to give me this opportunity," Hodge said, "and also the players for their dedication to improving throughout the season. The fans have been great to me and I really appreciate all the support everyone has shown.
"We can now spend the time this summer to improving our team and building a winner the fans and the BOK Center deserve," Hodge said.
Season tickets for the Oilers 2008-09 season in the new BOK Center are available by calling the Oilers at (918) 632-PUCK (7825).
