Augusta GreenJackets News Release

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves touched up Augusta GreenJackets starter Mike Kickham for four runs in the first three innings, pacing their way to a 4-1 victory over the GreenJackets on Sunday afternoon.

The GreenJackets managed just four hits in the game and have just 15 hits in their last 27 innings of play. Only once in the GreenJackets' 4-1 loss to the Braves did they manage more than one hit in the same inning.

Three of the four runs allowed by Kickham came with two outs in the inning. Evan Gattis hit a two-run home run to put Rome ahead by a 2-0 with two outs in the first inning. In the third, Edward Salcedo walked, stole second, was balked to third and scored on David Rohm's infield single to push the lead to three. With two outs in the fourth, Matt Lipka's RBI double brought home run number four for the Braves.

Kickham (1-2) battled through six innings and retired seven of the final eight hitters he faced after Lipka's fourth inning RBI double. He allowed four runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out two.

The GreenJackets got their lone run of the game in the only inning where Augusta had a leadoff hit. Devin Harris doubled to lead off the second and then scored on an error in the outfield following Jeff Arnold's single to make it a 4-1 game.

Aaron Northcraft (2-0) got the win for the Braves in his first start of the year, firing five innings and allowing a run on four hits and a walk with five strikeouts - tying a season-high.

After winning eight series openers in a row, the GreenJackets have now lost three straight. Despite the fact Rome has won just 19 games this season, six of those wins have been against the GreenJackets.

Gaspar Santiago (0-0, 2.81) gets the ball for the GreenJackets in the Memorial Day Matinee on Monday and will face Carlos Perez (3-5, 5.53). First pitch from Rome will come at 1:05 with pregame coverage beginning at 12:50, airing online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com .

The GreenJackets return home on Sunday June 4th to open a three-game series with the Charleston RiverDogs. First pitch is at 5:35 and gates will open at 4:30 next Sunday.
