GASTONIA, N.C. - The HiToms snapped a two-game losing streak on Sunday afternoon as they downed the Gastonia Grizzlies 5-1 at Sims Legion Park.

The HiToms (16-10) got on the board first against Tyler Ware (L 2-3) in the third inning as Alex Williams riffled a double down the line in left to score Cole Sturgeon for an early 1-0 lead. That advantage grew to 2-0 for the Tommies when Brock Hebert launched his fifth home run over the wall in left field to begin the fifth inning.

Another insurance run crossed the plate for the HiToms in the eighth inning as James Harris homered for the second game in the row, this time over the wall in right for a 4-0 lead.

Conner Scarborough started the game and worked three scoreless innings before departing in favor of Matt Dillon (W, 5-2) who entered in the fourth inning and retired the first 10 men he faced before issuing a one out walk in the seventh. The right hander retired 12 of the 13 hitters he faced.

Gastonia (14-12) got on the board in the eighth inning against JJ Jankwoski in the eighth inning when Jordan Lurie punched a base hit through the left side to score Mac Doyle who was hit by a pitch leading off the inning to make it 4-1 HiToms.

The final run of the game was added in the ninth inning when Derek Niesman singled to right field with two outs to plate Stephen Carmon and make it 5-1.

The Tommies return to Finch Field on Tuesday night at 6:00 when they host the Copperheads in a doubleheader to close the regular season.
