Calgary, AB - Carson Focht and Jackson van de Leest both scored two goals each to push the Calgary Hitmen past the Red Deer Rebels 5-0 on Saturday afternoon at Scotiabank Saddledome.

It was 'Every Child Matters' presented by Siksika Health Services in partnership with Siksika Child & Family Services and First Nations Health Consortium. The game was dedicated to Indigenous youth empowerment through sport and celebrated the Blackfoot culture. Highlights included a second intermission Round Dance, which spanned all the way around the concourse to bring cultures together. It marked the first such dance ever held at a Hitmen game.

Hitmen goaltender Jack McNaughton made 14 saves to record his third career shutout as Calgary outshot the Rebels 28-14. Connor Gabruch also scored for the home side while Orca Wiesblatt and Jett Woo added two assists each.

Both the Hitmen and Rebels wore an 'Every Child Matters' decal on their helmets with 3,000 'Every Child Matters' toques given away to kids upon exit as a show of solidarity. The game was also broadcast in Blackfoot across the province on Windspeaker Radio to help preserve and promote the endangered language.

Calgary has now won five of their last six games to improve to 27-16-4-1. They will enjoy a full five-day break before playing host to Ozzy Wiesblatt and the Prince Albert Raiders on Friday, Feb. 7. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Saddledome and presented by Canada Life.
