Hitmen Take Down Oil Kings, 6-1

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen opened up a home-an-home set with the Edmonton Oil Kings Friday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome Calgary improved their home record to 6-2-1-0 with a 6-1 over the visitors.

Calgary went three for three on the power play in the first period to gain an early 3-0 lead. Ben Kindel kicked off game scoring with a power play goal just under three minutes in. Oliver Tulk would net the next one on the powerplay 10 minutes later off a feed from Kindel to increase the lead to two. Carson Wetsch would net Calgary's third power play goal with just under two minutes left to go in period one.

Edmonton would finally crack the scoreboard with their own power play goal in the second, but Carter Yakemchuk would answer scoring his eighth of the season to restore the three goal lead heading into the final frame. Tulk would find the back of the net once more for his second of the game to make it 5-1. With the assist on the goal, Easton LaPlante would earn his first WHL point in his WHL debut. Dax Williams would net one more before the end of the period to make the final score 3-1. The defencemen now has goals in back-to-back games.

Oliver Tulk (2g,2a) earned first star with hist four-point performance. Ben Kindel (1g, 2a) was a standout once again with three points. Ethan Buenaventura earned third star with 36 saves in the contest.

With the victory tonight, Calgary now improves to .500 on the season with a record of 8-8-2-0.

Calgary and Edmonton clash again tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 11 but this time in the provincial capital. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Rogers Place. The following weekend serves up another home-and-home for Calgary with a Friday, Nov. 17 visit from the Rebels at 7:00 p.m. before the rematch in Red Deer on Saturday, Nov. 18.
