Finishing Strong
We've reached the end of a particularly long road trip, and the Winterhawks are hitting their stride. With back-to-back wins and a four-game point streak in tow, Portland has found the dominance it held earlier in the year and will be keen to close out the trip with another victory.
On the other side, home games are (finally) on the horizon with three tilts at the Glass Palace in a six-day span starting one week from today. Warm up those vocal cords, Hawks fans!
Among Giants
Standing in the way of a happy end to Portland's Canadian swing are the Vancouver Giants, winners of back-to-back games heading into tonight's contest. The Giants rank eighth in the WHL's Western Conference, but pose a greater threat on home ice where they are 6-2-1 this season.
These two clubs have already met once this season, a 6-2 victory for the Winterhawks back on Oct. 7. Portland's Diego Buttazzoni registered his first WHL hat-trick in that game, while Logen Hammett and Connor Dale notched the lone goals for the Giants.
Hats Off
The Winterhawks are coming off of an impressive showing in Kamloops on Wednesday, where they knocked off the Blazers 7-3 on the back of some sterling offensive performances. Josh Davies bagged his first hat-trick as a Winterhawk and Luca Cagnoni (1G, 4A) and Gabe Klassen (2G, 3A) each chipped in five points to the winning cause.
Those three players have played key roles in the Hawks' return to form on the back half of this trip - Cagnoni and Klassen boast 11 points in the last four games, while Davies has eight with a team-leading six goals in that span.
