Hitmen Stop Regina for Third Straight Victory

Regina, SK - The Calgary Hitmen ran their season high winning streak to three games with a 5-3 victory over the Regina Pats Friday night at the Brandt Centre.

Micheal Zipp scored the game winner, breaking a 3-3 third period tie with 11:09 remaining, to give the Hitmen their second win over the Pats in as many tries this season.

Connor Rankin had a pair of goals for Calgary who also got singles from Pavel Karnaukhov and Radel Fazleev. Fazleev chipped in a pair of assists, who along with three helpers from Ben Thomas, both finished the contest with a team leading three points.

Special teams played a major role in the outcome as Calgary went 2-2 with the man advantage while killing all four chances for the Pats.

Mack Shields made 26 saves to record the win in goal with Regina outshooting the Hitmen 29-26.

Adam Brooks, Patrick D'Amico and Austin Wagner netted goals for the Pats who saw their three game winning streak come to an end.

The win improves Calgary's record to 10-8-0-1 while the loss drops Regina to 8-9-1-0.

The Hitmen wrap up their six game tour of the East Division tomorrow in Brandon. Radio Broadcast on Sportsnet 960 The Fan begins at 6:00 pm MT with a 30 minute pre-game show. Calgary will then complete their seven game road trip in Cranbrook against the Kootenay Ice on November 14.

The next Hitmen home game is Sunday, November 16 at the Scotiabank Saddledome against the Saskatoon Blades (4:00 p.m., Sportsnet 960 The FAN).
