Regina Pats News Release

Regina, Saskatchewan - The Regina Pats (8-8-1-0) and Calgary Hitmen (9-8-0-1) meet tonight for the second time this season. In their first contest, the Hitmen cruised by the Pats by a 5-1 score at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary. Morgan Klimchuk scored the lone goal for Regina while Travis Sanheim had two goals and an assist for Calgary. Coming into tonight's action, the Pats are winners of three in a row including Saturday's 2-1 shootout victory against Swift Current. The Hitmen are on a swing through the East Division and are 2-1-0-0 so far and winners of their last two. Listen to tonight's contest on 620 CKRM with Home Depot Pats Hockey starting at 6:35 p.m.

Lead Up: Pats Tame Broncos with 2-1 Shootout Win

Scoring came at a premium in the Pats and Broncos third meeting of the season. Morgan Klimchuk opened the scoring by sneaking the puck through Landon Bow in the first period. Coda Gordon made a great play to feed Colby Cave to bring the game to even in the second. 65 minutes didn't solve anything and the teams went off the extra shots. Klimchuk and Connor Gay both tucked for Regina while Daniel Wapple didn't allow a goal in the shootout for the 2-1 Regina victory.

Leading the Way

Connor Gay sits atop the Pats' scoring leaderboard with 15 points (5G, 10A) in 17 games. The Saskatoon Blazer alumni has four multi-point games on the year and three points in his last two games. Gay is producing at a pace of 0.88 points per game, considerably stronger than last year's 0.70 average.

Game Winners

Four of the Pats' seven game winning goals have been scored by Adam Brooks and Colby Williams. Both come into tonight's contest with a pair of winners to their name. For Williams, that's two of his three on the year. Only five players in the WHL have more winners than Williams and Brooks.

Poppy Fund

The Brandt Group of Companies, through its corporate Thanks a Billion program, will demonstrate its support for Saskatchewan's men and women in uniform and the Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command with a donation prior to puck drop. For more information, see the attached release.
