
Hitmen Penalties Lift Oil Kings

Edmonton, AB - The Central Division leading Edmonton Oil Kings extended their season-high winning streak to five games with a 3-2 victory over the Calgary Hitmen on Sunday afternoon at Rogers Place.
Aided by 18 minutes of powerplay time, the Oil Kings received goals from Josh Williams, Simon Kubicek and Jacob Boucher with the Williams and Kubicek markers on the man advantage.
Sean Tschigerl and Brandon Whynott replied for the Hitmen. Tschigerl's marker moved the Anaheim Ducks prospect into a tie for the Western Hockey League lead in shorthanded goals with his third of the season.
Edmonton, which built period leads of 1-0 and 3-1, outshot Calgary 36-29 as Sebastian Cossa made 27 saves to pick up the win while Brayden Peters turned aside 33 shots in the loss.
The victory moves the Oil Kings into sole possession of first place in the Central at 14-3-2-1 while Calgary drops to 7-9.
The Hitmen return home next weekend for the start of four straight at Scotiabank Saddledome beginning Saturday, Nov. 27 against Saskatoon. Game time is 1:30 p.m. The Hitmen will also welcome Regina on Sunday, Nov. 28 at 11:00 a.m. followed by visits from Moose Jaw (Dec. 2) at 7:00 p.m. and Lethbridge (Dec. 4) at 2:00 p.m.
The meeting with the 'Canes is the ENMAX Teddy Bear Toss where fans are asked to bring a stuffed toy to the game and toss it on the ice for charity when the Hitmen score their first goal.
