Hitmen Introduce One Ticket, One Tree

Calgary, AB - On National Tree Day, the Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club is proud to announce their participation in an environmental initiative called One Ticket, One Tree.
The Hitmen will begin a pilot project where a tree will be planted for reforestation projects in the province for each game day and group ticket sold to the One Ticket, One Tree game. Fort McMurray and Waterton Lakes National Park, which have been devastated by wildfires in recent years, will be two of the largest beneficiaries of this program. In 2016, the Fort McMurray wildfire scorched over 6,000 square kilometers while the Waterton blazes of 2017 and 2018 destroyed over 70% of forested area in the park.
"We are extremely proud and excited to introduce this project that will have an immediate and future impact on our planet," said Hitmen Vice President Mike Moore. "We have all witnessed the devastation in our province from the wildfires the past few years. It is amazing that our fans will have the opportunity through the Hitmen to make a difference on the environment."
The Hitmen will host the One Ticket, One Tree game on March 8 when they welcome the Edmonton Oil Kings to the "Dome at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase at all Ticketmaster locations and the Scotiabank Saddledome box office.
In addition, Hitmen players will be in the community this season doing their part to reduce their ecological footprint and bring awareness to local environmental issues. This will include Hitmen Go Green videos on upcycling, water conservation and alternative energy along with recycling and composting.
"Amazingly, there are not many sports teams that have as a priority, the improvement of the environment," said Tree Canada President Michael Rosen. "I give credit to the leadership, players and fans of the Calgary Hitmen for their initiative in helping re-green Fort McMurray, devastated by the wildfires of 2016."

"We are very proud to contribute to the reforestation of Fort McMurray and Waterton Lakes National Park in the wake of the devastating wildfires that hit those two communities in recent years."
The Hitmen home opening weekend begins Saturday, September 29 at 7:00 p.m. in the Papa John's Pizza Home Opener against the Edmonton Oil Kings. By using the promo code KIDSPORT1 or KIDSPORT2 $5 from every ticket sold will be donated to KidSport Calgary.
Calgary returns to Scotiabank Saddledome ice the next day in a Sunday matinee, September 30, against the Red Deer Rebels. It's the annual Shrine Challenge presented by the Al Azhar Shriners Society. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
