Hitmen host Prince Albert Wednesday, Moose Jaw Friday

HITMEN HEADLINES: The Calgary Hitmen play game three of their five game home stand tonight against the Prince Albert Raiders. The Hitmen are coming off Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Everett Silvertips. It was 2-1 Calgary after one on goals from Carson McMillan and Kyle Bortis, but Everett struck for three unanswered in the middle frame. Calgary carried the play in the third, but couldn't solve Silvertips goaltender Leland Irving. The Hitmen out shot Everett 29-27 as both teams went 1-7 on the powerplay. Ryan White led all Hitmen with five shots on goal.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: At 12-7-0-1 Calgary is second in the WHL's Central Division, just one point behind Medicine Hat. Calgary is 6-3 at home, 6-4-0-1 on the road.

VS. PRINCE ALBERT: Tonight is the first of five meetings with the Raiders. Last year the Hitmen swept the season series winning all four games, outscoring Prince Albert by a combined 23-7. Their next meeting is Sunday, November 18th in Prince Albert.

POINT STREAKS: Kyle Bortis is on a four game point streak (3g 3a), while Carson McMillan has points in three straight (3g 2a). Ian Duval has points in two straight (3a). Ryan White had his three game goal scoring streak (3g) snapped Sunday against Everett.

SHARP TURNAROUND: After starting the season 9-1-0-0, the Hitmen have gone 3-6-0-1 since.

CARRYING THE PLAY: Calgary has only been outshot in four of their 20 games this season.

THRID PERIOD DROUGHT: The Hitmen have only scored one third period goal in the last three games despite firing 31 shots.

TEAM WHL: Two Calgary Hitmen have been named to Team WHL for the upcoming ADT Canada/Russia Challenge on November 19th to 29th. Defenceman Karl Alzner and forward Ryan White were selected. White will play in both WHL games on November 28th in Cranbrook and November 29th in Medicine Hat, while Alzner will only dress in Medicine Hat.

CAREER WATCH: Dan Spence needs one more win to tie Justin Pogge (52) for the third most victories in franchise history. Brent Krahn tops the list with 74.

The Hitmen have partnered with Cardel Homes this season for the Souper Stars program. Up to five Hitmen along with Assistant Coach Joel Otto play floor hockey at high needs elementary schools in Calgary and sign autographs. With the help of the Community Kitchen Program, the entire school is also fed. So far the Hitmen have visited six schools this season, with six more visits to come.

DRAFTED PLAYERS: The Hitmen have eight NHL picks ...Ryan White-(3rd round Montreal 2006), Keith Seabrook-(2nd round Washington 2006), Karl Alzner-(1st round Washington 2007), Alex Plante-(1st round Edmonton 2007), T.J. Galiardi-(2nd round Colorado 2007), Brett Sonne-(3rd round St. Louis 2007), Carson McMillan-(7th round Minnesota 2007) and Paul Postma-(7th round Atlanta 2007).

THE ROSTER: Calgary is carrying 25 players; (14 forwards, 9 defencemen and 2 goalies)

-Break down....2 (20 year-olds), 9 (19 year-olds), 5 (18 year-olds), 7 (17 year-olds), and 2 (16 year-olds).

HITMEN ALUMNI: Kenton Smith is in the East Coast Hockey League with the Charlotte Checkers. Smith played five seasons with the Hitmen (1995-96 to 1999-2000) and is second on the franchises all time regular season games played list with 334. In six games with the Checkers this season Smith has five assists.

UPCOMING GAMES: The Hitmen have two games left on their five game home stand. They'll host Moose Jaw Friday night (7:00 p.m.) before welcoming the Seattle Thunderbirds to the 'Dome on Wednesday' November 14th. Calgary then heads to Saskatchewan for four straight.
