Calgary Hitmen News Release
Lethbridge, AB - The Calgary Hitmen extended their season-high point streak to four games with a 4-3 overtime win on the road Friday night against the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
Rookie defenceman Reese Hamilton notched the game winner, his third goal of the season 3:53 into extra time, helping Calgary improve to 2-0-2 in their last four outings.
It was the Hitmen who forced the extra session when Oliver Tulk buried his second goal of the night and team leading seventh of the season just over four minutes into the third period. Carter MacAdams also found the back of the net for the visitors on a shorthanded tally. Veteran forward Sean Tschigerl finished the game with three assists while Ben Kindel set up a pair of goals.
Calgary outshot Lethbridge 32-31 with goaltender Ethan Buenaventura making 28 saves to record the victory. Among his highlights was a stunning right pad save off Dustin Renas in the final 10 minutes and a superb poke-check on Tyson Zimmer in overtime to take away a dangerous low slot chance.
The Hurricanes, who trailed 1-0 after 20 minutes but led 3-2 after the second period, received their goals from Kooper Gizowski, Brayden Edwards and Elias Knoester.
The Hitmen weekend continues at Scotiabank Saddledome with a pair of home games. On Saturday, Oct. 28 the Red Deer Rebels stop by the 'Dome for a 7:00 p.m. start followed by the lone visit of the season from the Porland Winterhawks on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 6:00 p.m.
