Brandon, MB - Calgary Hitmen scored four unanswered goals to beat the Brandon Wheat Kings 6-4 on Tuesday night at Westman Communication Group Place.
The win moves the Hitmen into sole possession of first place in the Western Hockey League's Central Division, two points ahead of both the Lethbridge Hurricanes and Red Deer Rebels.
Calgary played catch up all night trailing, 1-0 in first period, 2-1 in the middle frame and 4-2 midway through the third period before mounting the comeback.
Jordy Stallard (2g, 1a), Jake Bean (3a) and Carsen Twarynski (1g, 2a) all had three point games to lead the visitors who also received goals from Jakob Stukel, Radel Fazleev and Tyler Mrkonjic.
Nik Amundrud made 26 saves to record the victory in his Hitmen debut after joining the team in a trade from Saskatoon on November 30th.
John Quenneville, Macoy Erkamps, Tim McGauley and Ivan Provorov scored for Brandon who sees their record fall to 17-9-1-2.
Calgary, 19-11-1-1, continues their road trip tomorrow, Wed. Dec. 9, in Regina against the Pats (6:00 p.m. MT, Sportsnet 960-TheFan). The Hitmen then head to Moose Jaw on Dec. 11, Red Deer on Dec. 13 and Medicine Hat on Dec. 18. Calgary has just one home game remaining before the holiday break. On Saturday, Dec. 19 they will welcome the Medicine Hat Tigers to the Scotiabank Saddledome for a 7:00 p.m. start.
