Calgary, AB -The Calgary Hitmen opened a home-and-home set with the Lethbridge Hurricanes tonight as they welcomed them to the Scotiabank Saddledome.

A career high four goal performance from Matteo Danis and stellar goaltending from Brayden Peters propelled Calgary to a 7-1 victory over Lethbridge.

Ethan Moore opened the scoring in the first period off a half break away feed from Carter Yakemchuk. Matteo Danis followed up with his first of the night to make it 2-0. Lethbridge would net their lone goal of the game in the second half of the period but the two-goal lead was restored by Oliver Tulk for his 22nd of the season. Brayden Peters would make multiple highlight reel saves in the second period keeping Lethbridge off the board. Danis would be the lone scorer in that period, putting Calgary up by three heading into the final frame.

Riley Fiddler-Schultz scored a minute into the third period making the score 5-1. Matteo Danis would find the back of the net twice more in the third, rounding out his first career hat trick and finishing the night with a career high four goals. Maxim Muranov had a multi-point night, registering three assists and earning him third star. Shots finished up 42-38 in favour of Calgary with Brayden Peters making 37 saves. With the two points in tonight's victory, Calgary has moved into sole possession of the eighth and final playoff spot after losses by both the Brandon Wheat Kings and Swift Current Broncos who were previously tied with the club for the last spot.

Calgary will begin a three-game weekend making the return trip to Lethbridge on Friday, Mar. 17 for a 7:00 p.m. start at ENMAX Centre. Calgary then heads to Medicine Hat to visit the Tigers on Saturday, Mar. 18 at 7:00 p.m. before returning to the 'Dome to host Medicine Hat on Sunday, Mar. 19 at 4:00 p.m.
