Lexington Legends News Release
Lexington, Ky.-The Legends are proud to announce an important community partnership, bringing the Hatfield & McCoy season long promotion announced in April full circle, by taking the historic feud back to its roots in Pikeville, Kentucky. Giving back to the community is at the core of all the Legends' ventures and this partnership has allowed for funds from the "McCoy" jersey auction on July 6, 2017 to benefit the Pike County Tourism, Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Pikeville Department of Tourism.
In addition to raising funds to support tourism in this beautiful region of the Commonwealth, local artists, musicians and historians featured at Pikeville Heritage Days in September, an annual Hatfield & McCoy Feud celebration and fair held in Pikeville, Kentucky, will be filling Whitaker Bank Ballpark with their crafts on July 6th for fans to enjoy and to enhance the large Hatfield & McCoy Theme Night held by the Lexington Legends for the game versus West Virginia that evening. Descendants from both families will also be in attendance and featured in various promotions throughout the night.
"On Behalf of the City of Pikeville Tourism Commission and Pike County Tourism CVB office, we are very excited to have the opportunity to become community partners with the Lexington Legends and to be a part of the Hatfield & McCoy Feud promotion. We are looking forward in sharing our heritage and culture at The Hatfield & McCoy Feud game on July 6th at Whitaker Bank Ballpark" states Andy Linton, executive director of tourism, events & special projects with the City of Pikeville.
