Hinds, Boyle Earn Reds Awards for Month of May

Dayton, Ohio - Two members of the Dayton Dragons have been honored by the Cincinnati Reds after outstanding performances in the month of May.

--Outfielder Rece Hinds has been named Reds Minor League Player of the Month for May.

--Starting pitcher Joe Boyle has been named Reds Minor League Pitcher of the Month for May.

Hinds led the Midwest League and the entire Reds farm system in batting average (.381), slugging percentage (.672), and OPS (1.146) in the month of May while belting four home runs and driving in 13 runs.

He was the Reds second round draft pick in 2019 as a high school prospect from Niceville, Florida. For the year, Hinds is batting .264 in 41 games with six home runs, six stolen bases, and a .458 slugging percentage. He has been a mainstay in the Dragons offense as the club has built a seven and one-half game lead in the standings.

Boyle, who also won the Midwest League Pitcher of the Month in May in addition to the Reds organizational award, posted an ERA for the month of 1.09 while limiting opposing batters to only eight hits in 24.2 innings, going 1-0 in five starts.

Boyle was the Reds fifth round draft pick in 2020 out of Notre Dame. For the year, Boyle is 2-0 with a 0.72 ERA in eight starts. He will start for the Dragons tonight in the first game of their series with the Great Lakes Loons.
