Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

Peoria, Illinois - The Quad Cities River Bandits gave up 16 hits on Tuesday en route to an 11-3 loss to the Peoria Chiefs at Dozer Park in game one of a six-game series.

The Bandits surrendered the game's first run for the eighth-straight ballgame as Peoria took a one-run against Charlie Neuweiler on an RBI single by LJ Jones. While the right-hander rebounded for a scoreless second, he faced 10 batters in the Chief's five-run third inning and didn't return for the fourth allowing six runs, five earned, in 3.0 innings.

The Bandits' offense was held without a baserunner until the fourth when Diego Hernandez extended his hitting streak to 18 games with a solo homer off of Wilfredo Pereira before Quad Cities tacked on a second run to cut their deficit to four via Morgan McCullough's RBI double in the fifth.

Pereira's outing ended after allowing the two runs and striking out eight over 5.0 innings.

After being quieted by Patrick Halligan in the fourth and fifth, the Chiefs' offense game back to life in the sixth and seventh, as they combined for five runs across the two frames, highlighted by Tyler Reichenborn's three-run homer in the sixth against Halligan and Thomas Francisco's RBI triple in the seventh off of Harrison Beethe.

Trialing by nine, Tyler Gentry's run-scoring single in the eighth netted a concession Q.C. run, but his team left a combined five men aboard in the final two innings as they went scoreless in the ninth.

Pereira (3-1) earned his third win of the season for Peoria, while Neuweiler's (2-5) return to the rotation ended in a losing effort.

Quad Cities will send Noah Cameron (1-0, 4.15) to the mound for game two against Peoria's Dionys Rodriguez (1-5, 3.55). First pitch at Dozer Park is set for 6:35pm.
