Today's Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) host the Great Lakes Loons (affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers) at Day Air Ballpark in the heart of the Water Street District. This is the first game of a six-game series. Season Series vs. Great Lakes: First meeting tonight.
Best Ever: The Dragons record of 35-15 is the best in franchise history through the first 50 games of a season. The previous best over the first 50 games was 33-17 in 2007.
Dragons in the Standings: Dayton is in first place in the MWL East Division, seven and one-half games ahead of Great Lakes with 16 games to play in the first half season. The final day of the first half is June 23. The Dragons "magic number" is nine to eliminate Great Lakes and eight to eliminate Lake County.
Last Game: Sunday: Dayton 8, South Bend 3. The Dragons won their fourth straight game and took five of six in the series with South Bend. Garrett Wolforth had two hits including a two-run triple. The Dragons set a season high for hits in an inning with six in their five-run third. Dragons pitchers posted a 2.62 ERA in the series against the Cubs, who led the league in runs scored when the series began. Dayton committed just three errors in the series, matching their season best for a six-game set.
