Hillcats to Wear Stars & Stripes Caps this Fourth of July Weekend

Lynchburg, VA - Fans visiting Lynchburg City Stadium this weekend will see the Hillcats wearing specially-designed "Stars & Stripes" caps against the Frederick Keys to honor America and help raise much-needed funds for a worthy cause.
As part of fundraising and awareness initiatives for Welcome Back Veterans, the Hillcats will be one of 113 teams across Minor League Baseball wearing the specialty caps from New Era Cap Company. Welcome Back Veterans is an organization dedicated to addressing the ongoing needs of military personnel and their families.
The caps will feature the American flag etched into a star behind the team's logo with a blue crown and red brim. A limited supply will be available for fans to purchase at the Catty Shack, the Hillcats Team Store at City Stadium.
Minor League Baseball, in conjunction with its licensing partner Major League Baseball Properties, will once again donate 100 percent of the proceeds from cap sales to Welcome Back Veterans as part of its contribution to the program. Since the program's inception in 2010, MiLB has contributed annually to the veterans' organization.
"As Minor League Baseball fans gather this Fourth of July weekend to celebrate America's birthday, we will also take time to honor and thank all the members of our armed forces for their service to our country," said Minor League Baseball President & CEO Pat O'Conner. "The Stars & Stripes cap program is one way we are showing our commitment to our military and an organization whose mission is to provide treatment to our veterans and their families. It's a small token of appreciation for the sacrifices they make every day."
Lynchburg will open a seven-game homestand when it hosts Frederick on Friday, July 4, at 7:05pm . There will be a postgame Fireworks show presented by Kroger and Westover Dairy. Additionally, there will be Fireworks presented by Harris Corporation, Central Virginia Federal Credit Union and Lynchburg Municipal Employee Federal Credit Union following the July 5 contest, which begins at 6:05pm .
Tickets are available for all games and can be purchased by calling the box office at (434) 528-1144 or by going online. Ticket purchases can also be made in person at the Lynchburg City Stadium Ticket Office (Mon-Fri. 9am-5pm ).
