Sacramento River Cats News Release

RHP Erik Hiljus (10-6) threw 7.2 innings of no-hit ball Friday en route to becoming the first River Cats pitcher to throw a complete-game shutout this season. The River Cats (61-39) beat the Fresno Grizzlies (41-58) 10-0 Friday at Raley Field in West Sacramento, Calif.

Hiljus, who threw the only other nine-inning complete-game shutout in team history (June 6, 2001), matched a club record of 7.2 no-hit innings by a single pitcher (Mario Ramos, Aug. 23, 2001). Hiljus threw 7.0 innings of a combined (Matt O'Brien, Justin Lehr and Joe Valentine) no-hitter that lasted 8.1 innings on April 8 of this year against Tacoma. The only no-hitter in River Cats history was a seven-inning (DH) effort by Micah Bowie on May 1, 2001, at Tacoma.

3B Luis Lopez led the River Cats' offense Friday, collecting 3 H and 2 RBI. Lopez and C Mike Rose both homered in the game. With the win, Sacramento improved to 28-16 at Raley Field.
