
Sox take first game in Vegas 6-4 in 13 innings

Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release
The Sky Sox won the first game of their 4-game series with the Las Vegas 51's 6-4 in 13 innings Thursday night. Sox starter Randy Flores started out shaky giving up 3 runs in the 1st, but settled in pitching 6 strong innings allowing only those 3 runs on 6 hits, striking out 4, while walking 2. Wendell Magee, who was added to the Sox roster Thursday, hit a grand slam in the 7th inning to give the Sox a 4-3 lead. After the 51's tied the game at 4 in the bottom of the 7th the pitching took over and shut down the offense, until the top of the 13th. Brent Butler stepped to the plate with 2 outs and the bases loaded and ripped a double to right center scoring Magee from 3rd and Reyes from 2nd. Brad Clontz pitched the bottom of the 13th giving up 1 hit and recording his 22nd save of the year. These two teams meet again tonight in Las Vegas with the Sox sending Chris Michalak (6-8, 4.68) to the bump against the 51's Andrew Lorraine (7-6, 4.51).
