Round Rock Express News Release
Cheyenne Janke wasn't brought in to join the Round Rock Express rotation, but when presented the opportunity, he gave them everything they were looking for.
Janke threw five strong innings and Tommy Whiteman had four hits to give the Express an 8-1 win over the Arkansas Travelers in front of 3,059 at Ray Winder Field.
Janke, making his first start with Round Rock, went five strong innings, giving up only one run on four hits and striking out six. Greg Miller and Mike Burns combined on the final four innings to keep the Travelers at bay.
Offensively, John Tamargo and Anthony Acevedo had solo homers in the third to jump start the Round Rock attack. Whiteman's four singles - and two runs - gave the Express insurance runs and put the game away.
Janke (2-2) picked up his first win for Round Rock as a starter. Mike Brunet was the loser after allowing five runs in four innings.
The four game series will continue Saturday at 7:10 p.m.
