Hickory Crawdads News Release
Over the past week (Friday June 22nd to Thursday the 28th) the Crawdads have posted a 4-3 record. Three of their victories came in a sweep over the Augusta GreenJackets, two of which were on extra-inning walkoffs.
Last Friday night the 'Dads lost 6-4 to the West Virginia Power. Kole Enright had two hits, including a two-run homerun. Yohel Pozo also had a pair of hits and drove in a run.
The Crawdads lost the series finale against the Power 8-6 despite collecting 11 hits on the night. All-Stars Yohel Pozo and Sam Huff both had a homerun and a single.
The 'Dads opened up a new series against the Augusta GreenJackets on Sunday evening with a 12-9 victory. Justin Jacobs, Ryan Dorow, and Clay Middleton each hit homeruns for the Crawdads. Pedro Gonzalez recorded three hits to go along with two RBIs.
Monday night's game got off to a delayed start due to storms in the area. Texas Rangers pitcher Martin Perez made a special rehab start for the 'Dads. He dazzled the GreenJackets hitters with five shutout innings, two hits allowed, no walks and nine strikeouts. With the game tied at three in the eleventh inning, Bubba Thompson delivered a walkoff single for his third hit of the night. It was also second game ending hit of the season, hitting a walkoff single in the 10th inning against Delmarva on May 21st.
Tuesday's game ended in a similar fashion, with a walkoff single coming in the eleventh inning, this time on a bases-loaded single by Pedro Gonzalez. The 5-4 win completed the three-game sweep over the GreenJackets. The 'Dads had 14 hits in the series finale. Ryan Dorow and Yonny Hernandez each had three base hits. Hernandez also added a pair of steals after also stealing two bases the night before.
On Wednesday, the 'Dads began a three-game road trip to West Virginia. They lost the series opener 4-3. Noah Bremer pitched five innings, only giving up an unearned run. He allowed two hits, walked two, and struck out eight. Ryan Dorow collected a pair of RBIs and Tyreque Reed added a homerun for the 'Dads.
Last night the 'Dads rallied in the ninth on a 2-run single by Ryan Dorow to defeat the Power 4-3. Dorow finished the night with two hits and RBIs. Yohel Pozo drove in Pedro Gonzalez for the 'Dads first run of the game.
The 'Dads will return to the Frans on Saturday for a four-game series against the Greensboro Grasshoppers. Saturday's game will be a Crawdads Carnival and the first 1,000 fans will receive a drawstring backpack. The series will conclude on Tuesday, July 3rd with an Independence Day Celebration.

The 'Dads are on the road this year on July 4th, so the festivities will start at the Frans a day early with a July 3rd Independence Day Celebration. The game, scheduled to begin at 7pm, will feature special on-field hats and patriotic jerseys, plus themed on-field games.To top it all off, the night will end with the biggest fireworks show of the season!
Dollar Dog Tuesday and Craft Beer Tuesday promotion do not apply on July 3rd.
The annual Barkley Baseball Camp will be taking place at LP Frans Stadium from July 10th through the 13th. The camp includes instruction from Crawdads players, a free ticket to the games from the 11th to the 13th, lunch each day, a tour of the Crawdads clubhouse, a pre-game parade on July 13th, and a free tee shirt.
The 'Dads are just a game and a half out as they look to win the second half division title!
