Greenville Drive News Release
North Augusta, SC - Behind dominant pitching and a four-run third inning, the Greenville Drive cruised to a 7-0 shutout victory over the Augusta GreenJackets in Friday's series finale.
Denyi Reyes (6-3) was his characteristic self on Friday night, as he fired six scoreless innings for the Drive (4-5, 29-49) while allowing just three hits and two walks with six strikeouts.
He was followed by Juan Florentino, who put together his best outing of the 2018 season with three perfect innings and five strikeouts to notch his first save.
Marino Campana's RBI single in the top of the third put the Drive ahead 1-0 against Aaron Phillips (2-4), and a GreenJackets (3-6, 40-37) error at third base plated two more runs. Jordan Wren followed with a sacrifice fly to bring the fourth run of the inning home.
Another Augusta error in the fifth inning made the score 5-0, and the Drive received RBI hits from Lorenzo Cedrola in the sixth and eighth innings to bring in their final two runs.
Cedrola went 3-5 with two RBI out of the leadoff spot to pace the Greenville offense, while Campana and Kervin Suarez added two hits apiece.
The Drive return to Fluor Field on Saturday night to begin a four-game series with the Charleston RiverDogs, a New York Yankees affiliate. First pitch for the renewal of the Battle of the Palmetto State presented by Spinx is at 7:05. Right-hander Kutter Crawford (2-3, 2.96) will take the mound for the Drive, and right-hander Miguel Yajure (2-0, 1.93) starts for the RiverDogs.
