Adirondack Phantoms News Release
BEARS SQUEAK BY PHANTOMS PHILADELPHIA - Rookie Andrew Joudrey scored his first goal of the season and goaltender Frederic Cassivi turned aside 32 of 33 shots to lead the Hershey Bears to a 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Phantoms in front of a Black Friday crowd of 11,556 at the Wachovia Center. Coupled with a Flyers sellout of 19,727 earlier in the day against Washington, a total of 31,283 fans took in hockey on Friday in South Philadelphia.
The Phantoms took a lead late in the first period with a power-play goal that came on a 5-on-3. Ryan Potulny fired a shot from the right side that Frederic Cassivi stopped. But the rebound came to the left circle, where Alexandre Picard was able to sweep it into the yawning net with 2:41 remaining.
Hershey tied the game 4:37 into the second period, when Grant Potulny took a puck off the right wall and snapped a shot from the slot. The puck eluded Brian Boucher, who was screened, and the goal made it 1-1.
Joudrey scored his game-winner 6:11 into the third period. He came off the bench and sped through the neutral zone, where he picked up a cross-wing pass from Chris Bourque. He continued into the zone, beat his defenseman and flipped the puck past the glove side of Boucher at 6:11.
Boucher took third star honors but absorbed the loss with 25 saves on 27 shots. Cassivi earned top billing with the first star, stopping 32 of 33 Phantom bids.
The Phantoms go to 14-4-1 on the season and have now suffered back-to-back defeats for the first time this year. The win was the fifth straight for the Bears, who are now 9-7-0-0.
The teams will close out a home-and-home series on Saturday night at the GIANT Center, the start of a four-game road swing for Philadelphia. The Phantoms will take a three-game road trip next weekend to Hamilton, Cleveland and Toronto before returning to the Wachovia Spectrum to host the Norfolk Admirals on Friday, December 7 at 7:05 PM. Tickets are available at the Wachovia Complex box office, online at ComcastTIX.com or phantomshockey.com, or by phone at 1-800-298-4200.
Phantoms season tickets and game plans are still available for the 2007-08 season. Fans can secure the same great seat at a discount for 6, 10, 20 or prorated season tickets for Phantoms home games this season while receiving an impressive list of exclusive benefits. Packages start as low as $60!
