Herd Collect Franchise-Best Fifth Consecutive Win, Beat Lakeland 115-93

The Wisconsin Herd, the NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, notched their fifth consecutive win with a 115-93 victory over the Lakeland Magic on Wednesday night inside RP Funding Center.
A season-high six Herd players scored in double figures led by Rayjon Tucker who posted a team-high 21 points and added nine rebounds and five assists. Jaylen Adams recorded his sixth career double-double and tallied 18 points and 10 assists, while Luke Maye collected his second career double-double and finished the night with 17 points and season-high 13 rebounds. After scoring 13 points, Cameron Reynolds has scored in double figures in all six games, and Brandon McCoy added a season-high 12 points and nine rebounds off the bench. D.J. Hogg totaled 10 points and six rebounds and Jemerrio Jones posted a stat line of seven points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals
Leading the way for the Magic was Vic Law who poured in a career and game-high 28 points and added nine rebounds and three assists. Two-Way player BJ Johnson had 21 points and a game-high six steals, while Stephen Domingo, Isaac Humphries and Michale Kyser all tallied eight points. Hassani Gravett and JD Tisdale Jr. each pitched in with seven points.
Entering the game, the Herd were ranked fifth in points per game (118.4), while Lakeland sported the league's stingiest defense, allowing 94.8 points per contest. However, it was Lakeland who came out firing offensively, and scored the game's first seven points. In response, the Herd rattled off seven consecutive points of their own, including five straight from Jones. Despite shooting 52 percent and tying the game on seven occasions, Wisconsin never led in the opening 12 minutes. The Magic led by as many as nine points, and Law served as the catalyst scoring 11 first quarter points. The Herd cut the deficit to as few as seven, but Lakeland shot 13-of-24 from the field, made 50 percent of their three-point shots and led 34-27 at the end of the first quarter.
The Herd's offensive efficiency persisted in the second period, and after making just two of their 10 three-pointers in the first quarter, Wisconsin buried seven long balls in the frame. The Herd opened the stanza on an 11-3 run and used three consecutive threes to take their first lead of the night. At one point, there was a 17-point swing as Wisconsin turned a nine-point deficit into an eight-point lead. The Magic, however, responded with a 10-3 run of their own and took a 54-53 lead on a lay in by Law. Lakeland scored 14 of the final 20 points in the quarter, but with 1.2 seconds remaining in the half, Reynolds poured in his second three of the quarter to even the game at 56.
The Magic created some separation to start the second half and used an 8-2 spurt to retake the lead. The run not only put Lakeland out front, but it forced a Herd timeout with 8:19 on the clock. Following the stoppage, Wisconsin scored six unanswered points to tie the game at 64, and moments later, the Herd used a Hogg three-pointer to jump ahead by three. The lead change represented the final one of the night as Wisconsin pushed their advantage to double figures and led by as many as 13 points in the period. The Herd shot just 37 percent in the quarter but held the Magic to 19 points in the frame, which is lowest total they've surrendered in any quarter this season. For the period, Wisconsin out rebounded Lakeland 19-10, won the second chance points battle 8-0 and led 85-72 heading into the final quarter of play.
To start the fourth quarter, Reynolds knocked down a step-back 20-foot jumper to give the Herd their largest lead to that point. The jumper resulted in a Magic timeout, but once play resumed, Lakeland strung together 11 straight points and dwindled the Wisconsin lead down to four with 7:38 left to play in the game. Hogg ended the Magic run by hitting a running floater, which snapped a nearly five-minute scoring drought. The Herd eventually regained control by making four threes and scoring 28 of the final 38 points in the game. For the second time in the contest, Wisconsin shot over 50 percent in a quarter, which aided them to 115-93 victory over the Magic.
With the win, the Herd have now won five straight games which is a franchise best. The previous high was four straight wins on two occasions. Wisconsin also collects their second win all-time against the Magic and their first inside RP Funding Center. Additionally, the Herd have won consecutive games by 20 or more points and are tied with the Memphis Hustle for the most wins in the G League.
After a 2-0 start to the road trip, Wisconsin heads back east to wrap up the road swing with two games against the Westchester Knicks and Delaware Blue Coats. The game against the Knicks is set for this Friday, Nov. 22 with tip-off schedule for 6:00pm CT.
