November 20, 2019 - NBA G League (G League)
Grand Rapids Drive News Release
WHITE PLAINS, NY - The Grand Rapids Drive (5-2) increased their winning streak to four by once again defeating the Westchester Knicks (1-4) for the second time in three nights by a final score of 96-91.
After the Drive started red hot with a 13-2 run in the first minutes of the contest, the Knicks slowly regained control and led most of the night. Grand Rapids, like they're starting to get known for, had to mount yet another fourth quarter comeback on both the offensive and defensive ends of the court.
Grand Rapids was able to secure two offensive rebounds off free-throw attempts in the final 20 seconds that helped them outscore the Knicks 6-0 in the final 55 seconds. The Drive outscored the Knicks 32-19 in the final 12 minutes to secure the road victory.
Drive forward Donta Hall had a breakout game for Grand Rapids, going for a game-high 25 points to go along with his 16 rebounds, five coming on the offensive end. Pistons two-way player Jordan Bone struggled early accounting for points but nearly grabbed the first triple-double of the season for the Drive as he finished with 9 points, 10 rebounds, 13 assists and 2 steals. Pistons rookie Sekou Doumbouya also had a slow start to the night as he was hampered by fouls, but turned in on late as he scored 11 of his 13 points in the fourth quarter.
Grand Rapids also had three big performances off the bench that helped them stay in the game throughout the night. Louis King, who was inactive during Monday's contest in Westchester, and Devon Baulkman each finished with 13 points. Tre'Shawn Thurman also finished with 9 points on an efficient 2-3 FG, all coming in the first half.
Westchester's Lamar King finished with a game-high 21 points off the bench and started strong with 8 in the first quarter alone. Syracuse product Andrew White II had 18 points in the night and former Wolverine Ignas Brazdeikis, who had 36 points Monday vs. the Drive, finished with 13 points and 9 rebounds on Wendesday. Kadeem Allen also had an impressive 9 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists.
The star for Westchester, however, was Kenny Wooten who finished with 9 points, 10 rebounds, 4 steals and an amazing 8 blocks against the Drive.
The Drive will return to Grand Rapids to host the Fort Wayne Mad Ants at DeltaPlex Arena on Friday night where they'll look to make it five straight. The Knicks will remain in Westchester and welcome the Herd to town on Friday night. Both games tip at 7pm on Friday.
