Portland Beavers News Release

PORTLAND, Ore. - Clay Hensley and Enrique Gonzalez combined on a three-hit shutout, Vincent Sinisi hit a two-run double and the Portland Beavers snapped a three-game skid with a 5-0 victory over the Las Vegas 51s before 6,291 Saturday night at PGE Park.

Hensley was sharp in his ninth major league rehab appearance for Portland, striking out two, allowing no hits and issuing two walks in three scoreless innings as the starter. Hensley, who is making his way back from a shoulder injury suffered last season, lowered his ERA to 1.80 (3er, 15.0ip) with Portland.

Gonzalez (3-2), who has a win to show for each of his last three appearances, was equally thrifty in his third relief appearance for the Beavers (28-26), limiting the 51s (28-28) to three hits and two walks while striking out four across his six innings to cap the Beavers' second combined shutout in their last five games. Hensley teamed up with Wade LeBlanc and Carlos Guevara on a 5-0, two-hit shutout over Sacramento Tuesday night at PGE Park.

Sinisi, Peter Ciofrone, Chase Headley and Brian Myrow each had two hits for the Beavers, who racked up 11 total hits in the game.

Dwayne Pollok, making just his second start of the season for Las Vegas, yielded four runs, six hits and three walks in 4 2/3 innings for the loss.

Chip Ambres doubled in a run and was aboard for Sinisi's two-run double to help the Beavers go up 3-0 in the first. Myrow and Ciofrone later added RBI singles for the Beavers, who handed Las Vegas its fourth loss in a row.

The Beavers battle the 51s again Sunday at 2:05 p.m.
